Although I am not a rabid sock knitter, I have been buying some sock yarn online. Mainly from Knit Swap Yahoo Group. Some of it is for me and some of it is intended for some yarn exchanges I have entered.
This one came from Jen in Australia. It is from a local mill in her area outside Melbourne. It is SSSOOOO SOFT and it is wool.
These two came from Marilyn on the East Coast. It is Lana Grossa "Meilenweit Cotton Fun" Yarn in muted colors but still very pretty. They are cotton & wool.
Finally, since Simon was sick yesterday and pretty much esconced on my lap or very near it, I started this prayer shawl in a modified Log Cabin design a la Mason Dixon Knitting. The yarn is Cotton Ease from my stash.
I am trying to make a rectangle but it still turned into a square so I think I will be striping along either end today as Simon & I are holding up the couch.

First, I love that you have yarn porn and a Prayer shawl in the same blog post. How perfect is that!!!
I find sock yarn to be addictive. While I've knit socks and love to knit socks, I love to collect sock yarn more! I love that It really doesn't cost much to have enough to make something and I could eat it because it is so yummy.
I love the shawl-- can't wait to see it finished.
I hope Simon feels better. Perhaps he'd like to snuggle on the couch with Duke so we could get away and grab some coffee?
I hope Simon is feeling better! Your projects are always so nice Sarah. You are a dedicated knitter absoloodle.
Such great yarn you got for yourself - looking forward to seeing the socks you're going to make with it!
