Diamond Head

We started day 3 with a hike up Diamond Head. The car valet at the hotel didn't think the kids could do it but, I thought we would give it a try.
It actually wasn't a bad hike with a lot of switchbacks and relatively mellow inclines, until you got to the end. See those yellow things in the background? They are stairs that lead into....
this tunnel that lead to....
this set of stairs that led to a smaller spiral set.
However, it was definitely worth it! The view was spectacular!
A cool down reward, shaved ice.
Next stop, the blow hole & sea life park.

P.S. This is a stupid shoe photo. This lady had on a pair of kitten heeled mules for climbing this trail. I saw more women in cute but useless shoes on this hike but hey, maybe they wanted to look good.

Comfort before fashion when hiking, I say! Looks like you guys made it through the hike with flying colors.

Isn't Hawaii beautiful? But you can keep the poi - must be an acquired taste. There was a great blow-hole on Kauai that I could stand and watch over and over again. So glad you are all having a great time!

I had to laugh at the stupid shoe photo. Almost hard to believe, isn't it? Ah, anything to be fashionable, I guess...looks like it was a great hike!
