Bird Feeder

I found this "recipe" for making a bird feeder and so decided to make one for our house.

I took an old Gatorade bottle and allowed it to dry, added a hole on one side & asterisk on the other side, slid the two wooden spoons through it, added an eyelet to the lid and filled with birdseed.
Then hung it in our tree. This is right ousdie the front window so we can watch the bird from the couch.
I hope the birds enjoy it.

February Craft Along Project

As part of Finny & Donk's craft along, I made the February fabric bowl project.

The first coil is tricky!

The bowl in progress.
I used cording instead of clothesline because I got to the craft store first.
The finished basket.
Another view....cute and pretty easy project.

The Morning After....

Well, the girls finally went to sleep between 11-11:30 and one went home because she was not feeling well about midnight.

Unfortunately, the latest anyone slept in was about 7:30. Of course Simon was up by 6:45. Sigh..I need a nap.

For breakfast, I made waffles. For once mixed up the batter in something with a spout.
Tricks of the trade....a counter top griddle (for the scrambled eggs) and waffle makers.

I have two waffle makers. This one I got at a garage sale from my old neighbors parents. Good old fashioned round waffle maker with triangular waffles.
This one I got from Dad & Linda for a birthday many years ago. Heart shaped waffles are big in Norway (I spent a year there back in 1987). This waffle iron has been with me for at least 15 years!

No one wanted the boring waffles so all I made were the heart shaped kind.
Phew, everyone went home and I am looking forward to a nap after lunch!

Hannah's Sleepover

We had 4 girls come over. While I was making dinner, the girls surfed on You Tube.
Hannah chose a Hawaiian theme for her party.

Watching Mamma Mia after dinner.

Simon finally giving up the ghost at 9:30!

Very nice lotion...

I was in need of lotion and had seen some recipes online so I thought I would give it a shot.

So, I made "fortified" lotion. Here is the beginning...petroleum jelly & lotion...

More lotion...
Mixed with Vitamin E, Vegetable Glycerin and Orange Essential Oil added plus some food coloring.
After whipping everything together.
The finished product. It is really nice. I used it and my hands are very soft and it is lotion that has lasted through washing my hands multiple times.
The recipe:
2-15 oz bottles of lotion
9-10 oz of petroleum jelly
2 oz of vitamin E oil (could substitute vitamin E lotion)
4-5 oz vegetable glycerin
10-15 drops essential oil (I used orange essential oil)
food coloring to match essential oil
Mix together with electric mixer until blended. Put in smaller containers.
Enjoy!

Dinner with the kids & lip balm!

I went to Chandler last night to have dinner for Hannah's birthday with the kids. We got this photo outside the restaurant.
After I got home, made some homemade lip balm. I had purchased all the stuff awhile ago but wanted to make some as part of Hannah's birthday party swag bag next week.
Here is the first batch. I added mint oil to it for a tasty change.
Melting.....
After the disasterous pour....I dug out an disposable dropper which worked much better.
The second batch included some lipstick for color and sparkly shadow for some shimmer.
The finished product from batch #2. Made 10 tubes this time. All ready for our 40th birthday party today for one of my friends. The color & shimmer one is for the adults!

NBA All Star Jam Session

I was lucky enough to win tickets to the NBA Jam Session at work. Luckily I ran into one of the gals from work and she took this picture right inside the entrance.
This is the line that goes around the building. It did go faster than I thought it would.
Bungee cord basketball shots.
The kids trying on shoes of the basketball players. Some of them are HUGE.

Simon and Hannah spent a lot of time running around chasing the lights. Free entertainment.
The Golden Grannies....they were hysterical doing a rap dance routine.
Star Wars.....
We love Star Wars.
Shooting some baskets....
before we headed home.

IPOD TOUCH

For those of you that have been reading my blog for a really long time, you may remember the first ipod I got and how much I LOVED it. A LOT. And then, you may also remember when I cracked it to put in a new battery with the help of my Dad on Thanksgiving. Well, the old ipod finally bought the farm.

So, I decided that after much drooling (for quite awhile) I would treat myself to the ipod touch. I bought it from the Apple store and it was shipped from China. I was tracking it today and then just happened to check this morning and it was delivered a day early!

I felt like Steve Martin in The Jerk when he announced the new phone books were here.

Needless to say, I rushed down to the mail room, brought it to my desk and plugged it in the charge it. Now, if only I had itunes at work, I would have spent the rest of the day not working and playing with my ipod!

Sigh, I had to wait until I got home and installed the updated version of itunes so I could play with this!
I also realize that every time I buy electronics, I need accessories. My 3.5 year old ipod looked brand new because I always protected it and the new one was not going to be any different. Hello eBay! I got a hard case, silicone case, screen protector and belt clip/arm clip that arrived today! Great timing. Now, if only I had thought to order the fm transmitter so I could listen to it in the car on the way tomorrow. Ok...later in the week it will come in the mail.
The only problem with new technology is the fact that my daughter loves my gadgets almost as much as I do!!! I had to pry it out of her hands so I could play with it.
I think I am officially in love with my new ipod!

Random Sunday!

Well, I made a lemon cake in my bundt pan...I hate it when the top sticks no matter how much I spray it.
Here is the cake without the bits that stuck.
Here it is after glazing and a few pieces sent to the neighbor that was giving me crap about stealing the lemons. Well, they aren't stolen, just shared from a tree that has 100's of lemons and hangs over the fence in our neighborhood.
Snacks/breakfast packed for tomorrow. I love fresh veggies and fruit but sometimes am too lazy to pack it. Today I packed for tomorrow.
And it is all in the container below. This is a great container because it holds a sandwich without getting smashed, has a cold pack that fits above the sandwich adn then two containers for snacks/veggies.
Healthy snacks for tomorrow at work.
Oh, and it is sad when you buy wipes for your son's class to clean their desk and keep the label info because you are thinking about work. Sigh...sad but true. I will be taking that to work tomorrow.
