Another Broken Arm

Simon broke his arm again....this time it was his left arm and not his right arm. Thankfully a small hair line fracture on the radius (bone on the right).

Another 2-3 weeks in a cast. Hopefully it will be off my early June.

Weekend....

When you get 25 lemons, what do you do???
Make lemon juice and limoncello!
I also started knitting a scarf with this lovely yarn. It is gorgeous!!!!
And......I had to rip this sweater out. It was a great sweater but HUGE so it is now in balls. Sigh.
Happy Mother's Day! Simon helped me pick out the sunflowers to go with the gladiola's I picked out myself.
A wonderful weekend!!

Craft A Long.....2 days too late

Finny & Kelli have a craft a long that I have participated in so far this year. The project for March was to clean/organize your pantry. Well, it took me until today to start my project. This is the before.
With all my stuff on the counter.
My spice collection was the most disorganized......
So, I was most happy to get the spice organizers from The Container Store. Now I can actually see what I have and it turns out I have multiples of a quite a few things.
This is the organized pantry with much purging and cleaning done. I seem to have about 1/4 less stuff!!!
As a job well done I went out for sushi and a glass of wine. It was nice to sit on the restaurant patio because soon it will be REALLY HOT for months!

A Great Saturday

Last Saturday was a busy day! I had breakfast with a girlfriend and then headed to Chandler for Sophia's first birthday party. Here she is with my friend Heather's husband, Brian.
Heather (aka Grandma...sorry Heather) dancing with Sophia.
Heather & I. I sure do miss our Tuesday night knitting group. Unfortunately, with my move to the north side of town has made that impossible. Sigh.
Speaking of our old knitting group, I went to Melanie's engagement party on the way home.
Here is a photo of the lovely couple, Chris & Melanie!
I smile every time I see this photo because they look SO HAPPY! Congrulation!

Fixing Clothes....

I hate fixing things but I have this great pair of pants that has this cute button on the back pocket.
However, the button got stuck on a metal chair and got pulled off.
Although I could not salvage the button because it was one of those ones like you have a a pair of jeans, I was able to find a substitute at the fabric store and voila.....the pocket is now fixed for less than $2 (plus I have 4 more buttons in the package).

Chihuly Glass Exhibit

The kids had the day off school so I took a day of vacation and headed to the Desert Botanical Garden's Chihuly Glass Exhibit. There are a lot of photos in this post so I will only comment on a few of them. ;)

Kid's & I in front of the beluga sculptures.

We also visited the butterfly pavilion. We saw tons of butterflies.
Simon was lucky enough to get a butterfly to land on him......
as did Hannah. Her's almost blended in with the flowers on her shirt.
A photo in the pavilion.
Crazy kids....

I love these colors!
Mexican hat....
A great day. I am hoping to also catch the exhibit at night when the glass is all lit up!

Happy Easter Week!

Simon needed a bigger bike, so earlier this week, we got him one with "pegs".
His first ride on the new bike.
On Wednesday night we dyed eggs. We also used my family tradition about cracking Easter eggs. We crack them on each other's heads. Strange but it works for us!!
I spent Easter day with Dad & Linda. Gorgeous Arizona weather.
Dad enjoying a glass of wine after the potluck.
The Easter Bunny came at my house so after we got home....the kids hunted for their eggs. They were happy with their visit from the bunny.
I have also been working on the "Lady Sweater" and am about 3 inches from finishing the body.
Maybe another week until it is done depending on how much knitting I get done in the coming week!

A Great Weekend

A friend of mine came in from California this weekend and so we decided to play tourist. We went to the Heard Museum, something I have never done since I moved here in 1995.
We also went to a spring training game and watched the San Francisco Giants play the San Diego Padres. Yes, that is knitting on my lap. I knit 3.5 inches on the Lady Sweater during the 3.5 hour game. We got lucky at the game because a guy asked us out front if we had tickets and when we said no, he gave us tickets right behind home plate.

Sitting behind us was Kurtwood Smith who played the Dad, Red, from That 70's Show and brother.
The view from our great FREE seats.

Last Wednesday

Hannah's school chorus went to the local high school to perform 2 songs in front of 5 other school chorus clubs and also 1 final number with all the kids.
Her chorus performance.
In the evening we met up with one of my old college roommates and her family in town from Moorhead, MN. I have not seen them since a year after I moved to Arizona in 1996.
The kids getting crazy for the photos.... ;)
Cheryl & I. One thing about good friends is that you can just pick up right where you left off even if you haven't seen them in many years!
