Weekend Update

I tried to do it yesterday but Blogger was having photo issues.

Saturday I worked on this test knit for SWTC. Compared to the last one I did, this pattern is pretty good. The only change I would makes is to put the chart legend on the same page as the chart. Only 3 more lace repeats and I am done.

Saturday morning Hannah & I headed out to Skip One Purl Two in Mesa to meet Linda for a mini Stitch N Bitch. I was sporting my ever blonder hair. I like the shorter length but it is not nearly as straight today as it was coming from the salon.
This is the shop. It has quite a bit of yarn for such a small space and lots of finished items hanging by the specific yarns so you can see how they knit up.

While I was there, I bought this Noni bag pattern. I didn't spend the additional $$ on the flower pattern because I am pretty sure I can come up with something similar.
I am going to use this yarn and some black or turquoise for the stripes.
Two things I saw at the mall that made me pause:

1. 6 year old girl in strappy sandals with a 1.5 inch heel.

2. 5 year old little girl in a thong. Of course, you are going to ask, how do I know. Well, Mom stood next to me in the ladies room and was showing off her dental floss to the world. As we are leaving the bathroom, the little girl pulls at the front of her dress, around the panty area and then does the same thing in the back AND you could see the little string through her dress. Um, Hannah is so not getting any of those anytime soon.

I guess when you are young, you want to grow up quickly.

Man that scarf is gorgeous! You might just influence me to get some soysilk yarn for myself!

On another note, whats up with parents making their little girls dress more and more like sluts everyday! All I see in Limited Too and other children stores geared towards girls are halter tops and makeup. Can't children be children anymore? It's a damn shame!

LOVE that noni bag. Super cute! And good work on the scarf. The day my daughters get thongs are the day they move out of the house. No butt floss for the precious, thankyouverymuch.

Love your hair! Very cute.

Good Lord. Butt floss at 5 years old. I had a really hard time with Steph during those pre-teen years of all the clothes in her size being totally inappropriate. But a thong at 5?!?

Do you know if Skip One Purl Two has a website? I couldn't find them online and was curious what days they're open.

And if you're going to Down Under wines tonight I'll see you there!

Sarah, you looked nice with you're new hair. And the scarf looked very fine, and the bagpattern was great. Good luck with the knitting and felting, let me know if you need anything more from here.

And yeahhh ummm a thong at age 5 and heals at age 6... not so much! Not the type of girl/woman I'd want to raise!

We saw a similar sight at the mall this weekend, too (not the butt floss, but the heels on a 6 year old). She looked just like her mama as they stood side by side on the escalator. I guess some moms start 'em young!

I love your hair! It looks great on you! (So do your curls, though.) I'm also digging that necklace.

That Noni bag pattern has been on my "should I...?" list, it's so cute. I can't wait to see yours done.

The young hoochies: so sad because it's not their fault. I'm with Kelly that little girls should be dressed like little girls, not very small skanks.

Don't 'cha love Skip One Purl Too? They're right near my office, and I like what she's stocking.

It's amazing what people will let their kids wear, isn't it? You'd think more parents would consider what slogans their 4- and 6-year-olds are wearing across their chests, not to mention the shoes and undies issue. Yeesh.
