Every once in awhile I try to instill some values into my children. OK, that is an ongoing process but as we get ready for school, I wanted to try and teach Hannah that we are very fortunate and there are people in our community who are not able to afford so many things my children take for granted such as food on the table, way too many toys, clothes and shoes, and new school supplies to start the school year.
When Hannah & I were at the mall on Sunday, we picked up some backpacks that were a really good price so we could fill them up with some things for the new school year.
Yesterday, we went to Target and stocked up on school supplies for Hannah and to stuff our backpacks.
Here the kids are spread among the backpacks.
A photo of the "loot".
Hannah closing up the backpacks.
The filled packs.
Gratuitous photo of Hannah & Oliver who is slowly coming out of his shell around the house again after the addition of Sophie, the crazy kitten. (Sophie really missed Pam and played with her like nobodies business yesterday when she came to work.)
Hannah delivering them to Save the Family in Mesa.
When we were at Target, Hannah asked me, "Why are you nice to people?" I told her:
1. I am glad it is not me.
2. If you have more than you need in life, you need to help those in need.
3. It is the right thing to do.
4. It is good to do something positive in your community.
